Prohibited uses
You agree not to use Aether or any Apex product to:
- Design, synthesise, produce or assist in the production of biological, chemical, radiological or nuclear weapons.
- Engineer or distribute select agents or controlled pathogens, or evade biosecurity controls.
- Evade applicable export controls or sanctions, including ITAR, EAR, OFAC, EU dual-use regulations or equivalent regimes.
- Conduct unauthorised access to computer systems, networks or accounts; develop or distribute malware.
- Generate or distribute non-consensual intimate imagery, child sexual abuse material, or content designed to incite violence.
- Target or surveil individuals on the basis of protected characteristics in violation of applicable law.
- Engage in fraud, deception or impersonation that causes harm to third parties.
- Generate political-disinformation campaigns or content intended to mislead democratic processes.
- Provide individualised legal, medical, financial or other professional advice on matters where qualified professional judgement is required.
Refusals at the model layer
Aether encodes refusal behaviour in its tool-use policy. Many prohibited uses are refused deterministically by the model; some are gated by capability checks in the runtime. Attempts to evade these controls — by prompt engineering, by chaining tool calls, by reformulating into adjacent domains — are themselves violations of this policy.
Dual-use research
We support legitimate dual-use research. If your work touches the categories above for legitimate biosecurity, defence, or red-team purposes, contact safety@apexworldlabs.com. We will work with you to establish appropriate review and gating, and we will not refuse research that meets the standards of recognised oversight bodies.
Customer obligations
- You must train your users on the AUP and ensure they comply.
- You must enforce reasonable internal controls on who in your organisation can grant which capabilities to the model.
- You must report suspected misuse to safety@apexworldlabs.com within a reasonable time.
- You must cooperate with reasonable Apex investigations of suspected misuse.
Consequences
We may suspend or terminate access for any breach of this policy. For severe breaches we will also notify appropriate authorities. For breaches that endanger public safety we will act without prior notice.
Reporting
If you become aware of misuse, please contact safety@apexworldlabs.com. Good-faith reporters are protected under our safe-harbour policy at /security.
